Funtasticks offers electric karts, which means no engine heat adding to the brutal Arizona sun. Racing here is straightforward fun rather than championship-level competition; families and kids make up most of the crowd, especially during the cooler parts of the year. Winter and early spring are the real seasons, when you can actually enjoy being outside without melting in the heat. Its relaxed Southwest vibe feels nothing like a fancy facility, just a place to drive small karts and grab food between sessions. Tourists passing through the area on their way to Sedona or Phoenix sometimes stop for an hour of driving as a break from travel. It's casual enough that nobody shows up stressed about lap times, which makes it genuinely comfortable for absolute beginners and younger kids.
This place is so overpriced and so brutally horrible. I could overhear other in line also so confused by the mind blowing inefficiency that this owner must have thought was good practice. The addition of electric go carts just completely slowed down the line for the other go carts. If two people show to ride the electric ones then they immediately are next to ride while dozens of people that have been in line almost an hour have to wait 15 or so minutes for two carts to go around the track. Here’s a thought! Add a track for the electric ones! Unreal. Asking the kids working at this place is like trying to get directions from zombies. Literally ignoring people while sluggishly moving pretending to work. Oh and the track itself has a pothole that is no joke dangerous. My son and I hit it and it slammed us around in our cart. It’s just such a shame because it’s the only go cart place I know of in Tucson. Regardless I will not go back to this run down place again. At least not under this owner for sure.
