The Whittington Go-Kart Track (the Whittington Family Raceway) sits inside CERA Sports Park & Campground on the south side of Columbus, Indiana. It is a hobbyist track for people who own a go-kart: there are no karts to rent, so you bring your own kart and helmet.
The track is a figure-eight layout with no crossover in the middle. It is for practice and fun laps, not racing: CERA's rules ban racing on the track, require helmets and slick tires only, and prohibit traction compound. Every driver has to register at the park's Sport & Fitness Center and review the go-kart rules before going out.
It may be the cheapest place in the region to turn laps in your own kart. Public entry is $10 per driver, and drivers with a CERA Pass ride free. The track is open during normal park hours until dark, closes at 4 pm from November to March, and has no lights. It also closes for weather, special events and the Columbus Gun Club's scheduled trap and skeet shoots, so check the closure dates on CERA's website before you go.
CERA is a full sports park with a campground, aquatic center, mini golf and more, so the rest of the family has plenty to do while you run laps.
Free for CERA Pass holders. Bring your own kart and helmet; drivers must register at the Sport & Fitness Center first.
